HOW DOES BLYS WORK?

Blys is a leading mobile massage, beauty and wellness platform that brings professional treatments directly to your doorstep. Whether you’re looking for massage, beauty, or other wellness services, Blys makes it easy to book trusted, local providers across the UK.

You can connect with independent mobile massage and beauty therapists onboarded on the platform without any phone calls, cash payments or stressing about finding the right therapist and making the journey to the clinic or spa. You can simply go online, browse the type of in-home massage, beauty or wellness treatment you want, mention where you want it (home, hotel or office) and when’s the best time for you.  The platform will connect you with a trusted therapist near you in no time. 

Blys is available in most capital cities and other regional cities, including London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Sheffield, Bristol, Glasgow, Leicester, Edinburgh, Leeds, and Cardiff. To check provider availability in your exact location, you can enter your postcode in the provider directory as well.

You will only be charged for your booking once it is confirmed by an available provider.

DO I NEED TO PROVIDE ANYTHING FOR MY MASSAGE THERAPIST?

Nope! Your massage therapist will bring everything needed for you to have a relaxing in-home self-care session. However if you already have a professional massage table, you can also mention it while placing your booking in the Notes section.

HOW DOES BLYS VET ITS THERAPISTS?

All providers on the Blys platform are required to meet strict qualification and compliance standards before they can offer services to clients.

We’re also extremely diligent with our onboarding process and only accept professionals who meet our high standards of quality, professionalism, and care.

We make sure they meet the ‘Blys Standards’ to provide their clients with the best home massage & wellness experience in every city we operate.

Once a professional joins our platform, we then use the in-app Client Rating & Review system to monitor and maintain the highest level of service quality. Although the practitioners are solely responsible for providing the services to you, this rigorous process ensures that you get the best customer service and experience every time you book a mobile massage and other wellness services through Blys.

WHAT TYPES OF SERVICES ARE OFFERED BY BLYS?

Blys currently offers Swedish Massage, Remedial Massage, Sports MassagePregnancy Massage, Aged Care Massage and Corporate Massage.

Any of these modalities can be performed as a Couples Massage, which means that two independent therapists booked through Blys will perform massages for you and your spouse/partner/friend at the same time.

DO THE MASSAGES INCLUDE FOOT MASSAGE OR FACE / SCALP MASSAGE

Generally, all independent massage therapists on the platform are qualified to do foot massages and head/scalp massages.

If you’d like to include this in your session, simply book a massage online and note your preferences in the “Notes to Therapist” section. You can even add them as a Treatment Add-On in your booking. Your therapist will then tailor the treatment to focus on those areas.

DO YOU HAVE ONE OF THOSE PREGNANCY MASSAGE TABLES WITH HOLE?

It’s very rare for mobile massage therapists to bring a pregnancy massage table with a belly hole. Most qualified therapists agree that lying on the side is safer for both the mum-to-be and the baby, as tables with belly holes can put pressure on the abdomen.

To ensure comfort and proper support with openings for the belly and breasts, making the experience more comfortable and relaxing, therapists use pillows of various sizes and shapes to maintain healthy alignment of your spine and pelvis. As your pregnancy progresses, a small pillow may be placed under your belly to support against gravity and reduce rolling forward. Read more about it here.

DO I NEED TO TIP MY MASSAGE THERAPIST?

Tipping is completely optional, and all fees are already included in your final price — so there’s no obligation to tip.

If you’d like to show extra appreciation, Blys now offers a tipping feature. You can tip before, during, or up to one hour after your session. The suggested amounts are based on the total before any discounts, and you can adjust the tip to any amount you prefer.

You can also choose to tip your provider in cash at the end of the treatment if that’s easier for you.

WHAT IS BLYS CANCELLATION AND RESCHEDULING POLICY?

We understand that plans can change. If clients need to cancel or amend their appointment, they can do so more than 24 hours before the scheduled start time. Please be advised that if the booking is confirmed you will incur a 10% cancellation fee outside for a 24 hours window. If a booking is cancelled or rescheduled within 24 hours, a client cancellation policy applies. 

Unless the cancellation is due to a severe illness or emergency or unsettled payment;

  • For any cancellation or rescheduling that takes place between 24 hours & 4 hours prior to the scheduled booking start time, a cancellation fee of 50% of the total amount is applied to the client and the pro receives their money (minus the Blys fee) accordingly.
  • For any cancellation or rescheduling that takes place less than 4 hours prior to the scheduled booking start time, a cancellation fee of 100% of the total amount is applied and the pro receives their money (minus the Blys fee) accordingly.

Clients can cancel a confirmed booking within 10 minutes of booking confirmation without a penalty, whether it’s within 24 hours or not.

If the client is running late to a scheduled appointment, we allow 20 minutes for their arrival. If they still haven’t shown up after 20 minutes, we consider the booking as a no-show and apply the full 100% cancellation fee.

If they do show up within 20 minutes but late, you can still start but let the client know you may need to finish at the planned time if you have another commitment or client after that booking. Check out the details here for more information.

WHAT ABOUT PARKING?

When booking, we ask that you provide in ‘Location Notes‘ as detailed parking information as you have available. This will help your service provider to arrive at your location easier.

For corporate bookings, you’re required to arrange parking for the provider(s); either by providing a visitor parking for them or by reimbursing their parking expenses during the booking. Details regarding parking information is available here.

WHAT TIMES CAN I BOOK A MASSAGE?

You can book a massage from 6am to midnight, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including public holidays.

DO YOU DO LAST MINUTE APPOINTMENTS?

Yes! Depending on availability, service providers on the platform can arrive at your doorstep in as little as an hour for last-minute appointments. Simply select the earliest and latest available time when placing your booking. 

For same-day bookings, you can submit a request as late as 11:59 PM, and we will do our best to find an available provider for you.

CAN I GET A REBATE FOR MY MASSAGE FROM MY HEALTH FUND?

Most therapists offer rebates for most of the health funds, but please check with your health fund first to see if they offer rebates for in-home massages. If they do, then simply add your fund name in the ‘Note for your therapist’ section when booking online and we’ll do our best to find you a therapist. 

DO YOU HAVE HICAPS?

Blys or the practitioners on the Blys platform do not work or use HICAPS machines. The payments are made in full from the time of the confirmation of the booking online either from our website or app, but we provide you with a tax invoice receipt that has your therapist’s provider ID. You can use these invoices to claim rebates from your fund, assuming your fund covers massages.

Please check first with your health fund provider if they offer rebates for in-home massages. If they do, then simply add your fund name in the ‘Note for your therapist’ when booking online and we’ll do our best to find you a therapist with the same fund as yours.

YOU’RE NOT IN MY CITY. CAN I STILL GET A MASSAGE BOOKED THROUGH BLYS?

Nope. We only operate in cities where we have partner service providers available. However, we’re constantly expanding to new locations, adding new cities!

We recommend signing up with us so we can notify you as soon as we launch in your city. You can also check our provider’s directory to see the available providers around our area.

CAN I PICK MY THERAPIST?

Yes, absolutely! On Blys, you’re in control of who you book with. Whether you want to see the same provider again, try someone new, or avoid a specific person, we’ve made it easy to manage your preferences.

There are a few options you can choose from regarding how you can select your own therapist. You can manage your therapist gender preferences through your settings, rebook the same therapist from one of your previous bookings, or enlist your favourite providers and choose from them for your next session.

I JUST MADE A BOOKING. HOW DO I KNOW WHICH THERAPIST IS COMING?

Once a provider accepts your booking, you’ll receive a confirmation (via email or push notification), so you know who’s coming and when.

You’ll see their name and profile under the “Upcoming Bookings” section in your Blys account.

I REALLY LIKED MY THERAPIST LAST TIME. CAN I BOOK THE SAME THERAPIST AGAIN?

Yes, 100%!

When you are making your next booking, simply go to the “Past Bookings” section in your account on our website or app, and “Rebook” your favorite service provider. Rebooking is one of the best ways of getting expected results in every session.

CAN I BOOK A MASSAGE DIRECTLY WITH A THERAPIST INSTEAD OF THROUGH BLYS?

The short answer is no.

Here’s why:

We take the stress out of getting a massage and other self-care services by offering you a reliable and trusted service and community, and seamlessly connecting you with qualified and vetted local service providers on short notice on your schedule.

Blys makes life a lot easier for its self-employed service provider partners too, by handling all business aspects of their practice (marketing, scheduling, payments, customer service, and admin work), so that they can concentrate on what they love doing – their practice. Service providers on the Blys platform make 2-3 times more per treatment than what their peers make in traditional brick-and-mortar clinics or spas, so you can rest assured knowing that your service provider is happy and looked after. In return, and to cover our costs, we charge them a small fee for every booking, which is our only source of income and what keeps us going.

So, if you enjoy the convenience and the quality of our service, we kindly ask you to respect our team & their work, and always rebook your service providers through our platform so that we can ensure you’ll always get the same level of service quality, whenever and wherever you want.

If you’ve used our service before and wanted to book the same service provider again, you can simply rebook your favourite service provider and have him/her again with a few simple taps or clicks.

I AM LOVING MY MASSAGE, I WISH IT NEVER ENDED! CAN I EXTEND?

Yep, you can. Requests to extend treatments are very common (it’s a great compliment to our therapists by the way!) – especially for 60-minute massages.

If you wish to extend your massage, simply ask your therapist. If your therapist is available (e.g. doesn’t have another client to go to), then you can stay in your state of bliss a little longer. 

Your therapist will let us know about the additional time after your appointment so that we can adjust your original booking and payment to include the extra time. Simple.

IS IT OK FOR ME TO ASK MY THERAPIST TO GO FIRMER OR SOFTER DURING MY MASSAGE?

Yes! All the therapists are trained to check the level of pressure with you at the beginning of each massage to ensure you’re comfortable and enjoying your treatment.

You can also set your personal preferences in the Blys mobile app to customise options such as towels, conversation during treatment, pressure level, and focus areas. Your preferences will be saved for all future bookings to ensure a consistent, personalised experience. 

In addition, when placing a booking, you’ll have the option to add a note for your therapist, you can use this section to specify your preferred pressure or any other requests related to towels/sheets, conversation during treatment, focus areas, or other details. View more details here.

DOES MY ROOM/OFFICE NEED TO BE LARGE TO ACCOMODATE A MASSAGE CHAIR OR TABLE?

Not at all. Massage chairs (ideal for companies, corporate events or home spa parties) utilise about the same space as an office chair.

Massage tables require a little more space as the standard size would be 1m x 2m, just clear 2×2 m of floor space for your therapist to set up the massage table, but often moving a coffee table provides ample room in a family room.

Any quiet space: family room, living room, or a patio can be easily adapted to accommodate a massage table.

DO YOU SEND TWO MOBILE MASSAGE THERAPISTS FOR A COUPLES MASSAGE?

Yep. Mobile massage therapy is ideal for a couples massage. Many clients prefer the comfort of their own home and the ability to be in the same room during appointments. 

Utilising multiple chair massage therapists during at-home spa parties is also popular. Alternatively, you can select the “Back-to-back” option when booking – in which case you can book one therapist who will massage you and your partner/friend one after the other.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR DURING THE MASSAGE?

Whatever makes you comfortable – you determine your own level of comfort when disrobing, but typically you’ll undress up to your underwear. 

As per Blys guidelines, all clients are required to wear underwear for the duration of the massage. All therapists will always give you the privacy to undress and dress where they simply step outside the room briefly and come back in when you’re ready. In addition, the utmost respect is given in regard to draping throughout the massage, and private areas are never exposed. In regards to chair massages, the client remains fully dressed – though some choose to remove bulky sweaters or jackets.

HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD I ALLOW FOR MY APPOINTMENT?

All mobile service providers we work with are efficient in quickly setting up and taking down their equipment. Your service provider will generally arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your session to set up and discuss standard in-take questions (injuries, target areas, etc). After the session, your service provider will typically spend another 5-10 minutes offering post-treatment suggestions, answering any questions, and taking down their equipment.

An hour service booked is an hour service received – we don’t let the time it takes for our service providers to set up & to pack up eat into your time to relax.

Bookings are made in a few simple steps online on our website or mobile app where you can customise your in-home massage requirement and pay securely for your massage.

If you’re having difficulty booking online, you can call our team on +61 483 922 668 and we’ll take your booking over the phone. Please note that for phone bookings, the payment MUST be made within 1-hour after your therapist is confirmed. If we don’t receive the payment within 1-hour of confirmation, we reserve the right to cancel your booking. 

DO YOU CATER FOR GROUPS? E.G. CORPORATE EVENTS OR OFFICES
