  1. Sell Gift Certificates on your personal website, to be honored after the isolation.
  1. Sell packages – You can sell 6 or 8 massage packages for payment up front to your regular clients at a discounted rate, to be honored after self-isolation.
  1. Cancel Unnecessary Expenses
  • Subscriptions
  • Magazines
  • Apps (e.g. Spotify)
  • Netflix (ok, maybe not Netflix!)
  • Haircuts – Let your hair grow out for now. Either cut your own hair or wait until things are more financially stable to get a haircut
  • Nails – Time to learn how to do your own manicure/pedicure.
  • Gym Membership – You can find some great workout videos to follow along with on YouTube.
  1. Buy generic brands or store brands for a bit. If you find a great deal on an item you absolutely need, buy it in bulk. Most important, make a list and stick to it when going to the grocery store.
  1. Downgrade your plans. Time to cut corners where you can.
  1. Do childcare work – Do you like kids? Have any experience taking care of them? When children are stuck at home, parents need help caring for them. Check childcare websites for part-time babysitting.
  1. Declutter your house – Sell your things on eBay, Gumtree, Facebook, etc to make some extra cash.
  1. Shop online – Find better deals and save on transportation.
  1. Drink more water – Not only does drinking plenty of water have great health benefits — it has financial benefits, too. Drink a big glass of water before each meal in order to stay fuller longer and ultimately eat less. Not only will you save on the food bill, but you’ll also feel better after you become properly hydrated.
  1. Turn off the lights – Time to be more conscious about cutting down on the electricity bill.
  1. Buy used when you can – If you absolutely need something, try a 2nd hand shop (or Gumtree) first before buying it new.
  1. Eat less meat – Meat is expensive, especially compared to vegetables and fruits. You can switch to protein-packed staples like beans. We’re not suggesting you become a full-fledged vegetarian, but you can save a bundle just by eating meat less often.
  1. DIY – Skill up using YouTube tutorials on plumbing, car issues, and many other essential services so you never have to pay for simple problems again.
  1. Stop and think. Do I really need it?
