Corporate chair massage in a modern office

Published US corporate chair massage rates start at $95 per therapist-hour (Massage by Design) and reach $129 (Zeel, including an 18% tip), with a two- or three-hour minimum per therapist. Massage by Design, Zeel and The Back Rub Company all list Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston and Austin on their sites. Blys lists $119 for chair massage plus a 10% service fee, and The Back Rub Company and Soothe price by quote.

Blys publishes this page and is one of the seven providers below. Rival facts come from each provider’s site, checked September 30, 2026.

What to look for in a corporate massage provider

Compare the rate per therapist-hour against the minimum, coverage for every office, lead time and the insurance paperwork your venue needs. Then check the tip policy: Massage by Design, Zeel and Spa Theory fold gratuity into the rate, while The Back Rub Company adds it on top.

Quick comparison: price, minimum and coverage

How these providers were compared

Each provider sells onsite massage to employers in several US cities and publishes corporate terms online. Five factors were checked:

  • Published rate per therapist-hour and minimum
  • Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston and Austin on its own site
  • Tip, travel and setup in the rate
  • Licensing and insurance statements
  • Employee booking tools

Rate publishers come first, sorted by how many of the four cities their site lists (ties alphabetical), then quote-only providers by how many tip, lead time and cancellation terms their own site publishes. It is not a quality ranking. Blys publishes this page, so it is listed last instead of being placed by this rule.

What is corporate massage?

Corporate massage is massage an employer books for staff at work or at an event. A therapist brings the equipment and sees employees in short, fully clothed sessions, usually paid per therapist-hour.

  • Chair massage: seated, often 10 to 20 minutes
  • Roving or desk massage: no room needed
  • Table massage: longer, needs a private room

The seven providers

1. Massage by Design

Best for: buyers who want one all-in quote with gratuity and travel included.

Massage by Design, founded in 2005, staffs events in “40+ cities” and covers venues “within 100 miles of every major U.S. market”.

  • Every therapist “holds a current license in the state where that event takes place”
  • Individual liability insurance
  • Certificate of insurance on request, with no extra lead time
  • Gratuity and in-area travel included
  • Non-refundable within 6 calendar days of events under 25 service hours

Pricing: from $95 per therapist-hour, two-hour minimum, higher in large markets such as Chicago and Los Angeles, and outside 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

How it compares with Blys: its quoted rate already includes gratuity, so there is nothing to add on the day. Blys adds a 10% service fee, and tipping is optional and separate.

2. Zeel

Best for: booking online at short notice at a flat, tip-inclusive rate.

Zeel@Work shows one rate on its Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston and Austin pages and covers “120+ major metro areas”. Its Los Angeles page allows online booking with as little as 4 hours’ notice, depending on therapist availability.

  • Default sessions of 12, 15 or 20 minutes, including a 2-minute turnover
  • Chairs, sanitary wipes and face cradle covers provided
  • Employees sign up for slots through a link
  • Recurring events weekly to quarterly, at a discounted hourly rate
  • Ideally at least 6 by 6 feet per therapist

Pricing: $129 per therapist-hour on the four city pages checked, 18% tip included, 3-hour minimum per therapist.

How it compares with Blys: its $129 rate already includes an 18% tip. Blys’s $119 chair massage rate does not include gratuity or the 10% service fee.

3. Spa Theory

Best for: regular programs in Austin or Houston.

Spa Theory is a mobile spa whose location menu lists Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Orlando and West Palm Beach. Its Austin page takes payment online at checkout.

  • Rate includes travel, equipment, products and gratuity
  • Available 365 days a year, 8 AM to 9 PM
  • Describes its Austin therapists as licensed
  • Spa packages, hair styling and makeup
  • A 50-hour prepay option

Pricing: $125 per provider-hour on its Austin page, two-hour minimum, or $99 per hour with a 50-hour prepay.

How it compares with Blys: it publishes its prepaid rate of $99 an hour for 50 hours. Blys runs weekly to quarterly programs and quotes the recurring discount.

4. Spa Flow

Best for: all-day events in Chicago or its other listed cities.

Spa Flow’s location menu lists Atlanta, New Orleans, Chicago, Washington DC, Philadelphia and Connecticut, and not Los Angeles, Houston or Austin.

  • Online scheduling or a printable sign-up sheet
  • $25 scheduler setup fee, plus parking where it is not free or validated
  • 5% off for non-profits and teacher appreciation events of 3+ hours
  • Corporate tipping “is not expected”
  • About 5ft x 5ft per therapist

Pricing: $125 per therapist-hour for a 2-hour event, down to $100 for 8+ hours.

How it compares with Blys: its table shows how the rate drops for longer events. Blys lists one hourly rate whatever the event length.

5. The Back Rub Company

Best for: events planned a month ahead that want more than massage.

The Back Rub Company has worked nationally since 2005 and covers “more than 80 cities”, including Chicago, Houston, Austin and Los Angeles. It also runs cooking demos, fitness classes and corporate self-defense.

  • Licensed, certified therapists with 2+ years’ experience
  • Liability insurance, setup, teardown and chairs included
  • Standard lead time of 4+ weeks, or an expediting fee
  • Gratuity not included; it suggests 15 to 25%
  • Certificate of insurance: $25+ per policy per therapist, 2 weeks’ notice

Pricing: quote only. Its FAQ page gives no hourly rate or minimum.

How it compares with Blys: it states a two-year experience minimum. Blys does not publish a minimum years of experience.

6. Soothe

Best for: remote teams that also want virtual yoga or meditation.

Soothe runs employee wellness through a “nationwide network”. Booking is sales-led, through a “Contact Soothe Sales” form.

  • Each provider “has been fully licensed, insured, and has passed a thorough background check”
  • Evident ID named as its screening partner
  • Table and chair massage, skincare, hair and beauty
  • Yoga and meditation, with virtual options
  • 10 to 15 minute massages for events

Pricing: quote only. The Soothe corporate pages checked show no corporate rate or minimum.

How it compares with Blys: it names Evident ID as the company that runs its background checks. Blys background checks massage therapists at sign-up but does not name who runs the checks.

7. Blys

Best for: wellness days mixing massage and beauty, with employee self-booking.

Blys for Business “connects businesses with independent massage, beauty and wellness providers” and works nationwide, in all major US cities. Teams can book instantly online through Blys for Teams and pay by card or invoice, or request a quote, which an Account Coordinator sends within 24 hours. Bookings need 48 hours’ notice, and staff book their own slots through a shared calendar link. US corporate clients include Dell, Samsung, California Ambulance Association, SEGA, CARE, Amazon and Cartier North America.

  • Massage therapists are licensed in their state where one is issued, and Blys verifies it
  • Massage therapists are insured and background checked
  • Certificate of insurance on request for your company or venue
  • Nail, facial, blowdry, hair and makeup, spray tan, and lash and brow bars
  • Yoga and Pilates sessions, and mixed wellness days combining massage, beauty and fitness
  • Waiting list, PDF schedule export, employee co-pay
  • Monthly consolidated invoicing, and PO processing on request

Pricing: $119 per provider-hour for chair massage and $129 for table massage, on weekdays during standard business hours, with a 2-hour minimum per provider (1 hour for schools and education). A 10% service fee is added to confirmed bookings, and surcharges outside those hours are confirmed in the quote. Gratuity is optional and not included.

How to choose

1. Work out therapist-hours first. Blys assumes about 70% uptake, so a 50-person office means around 35 people, or around 9 hours at 15 minutes each.

2. Price the minimum as well as the rate. Zeel’s 3-hour minimum at $129 comes to $387 per therapist.

3. Book as far ahead as the provider needs. Lead times run from 4 hours at Zeel, depending on availability, to a standard 4+ weeks at The Back Rub Company.

4. Ask for insurance paperwork early. The Back Rub Company needs 2 weeks’ notice for a certificate of insurance.

Where Blys fits, and where it does not

Blys suits a wellness day with massage next to a nail or hair bar, one calendar link for staff and an optional employee co-pay. Blys also offers per-booking tax invoices and monthly consolidated invoicing.

Good to know: gratuity is optional and not included in the rate, and bookings need 48 hours’ notice. With the 10% service fee added, its $119 chair massage rate comes to about $131 an hour before any tip.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does corporate chair massage cost in the US?

Published rates run from $95 per therapist-hour at Massage by Design (a starting rate, higher in large markets) to $129 at Zeel, including an 18% tip. Spa Flow charges $100 to $125 by event length, and Spa Theory’s Austin page lists $125. Minimums are two hours at Massage by Design, Spa Theory and Blys, and three at Zeel. Blys lists $119 for chair massage plus a 10% service fee; The Back Rub Company and Soothe quote each event.

How many massage therapists do I need for an office wellness day?

Blys’s planning guide assumes about 70% of staff will take up a massage, so an office of 50 should expect around 35 people, or about 9 therapist-hours at 15 minutes each. Blys puts one therapist at 3 to 5 people an hour, depending on session length. Then check the provider’s minimum per therapist.

Which corporate massage companies cover Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston and Austin?

Zeel has a corporate page for each of the four cities, and Massage by Design and The Back Rub Company list all four on their sites. Spa Theory’s location menu includes Houston and Austin, and Spa Flow’s includes Chicago. Soothe describes a “nationwide network”, and Blys works nationwide, in all major US cities.

Do I need to tip corporate massage therapists?

Zeel includes an 18% tip in its rate, and Massage by Design and Spa Theory include gratuity too. Spa Flow says corporate tipping is optional and not expected. The Back Rub Company leaves gratuity out of its quotes and suggests 15 to 25% of the total. With Blys, gratuity is optional and not included; add it before, during or after the booking.

Is corporate massage tax deductible for US employers?

Often, yes. A one-off wellness day with short, low-value chair massages is likely excludable as a de minimis fringe benefit, which means no W-2 reporting. A regular weekly or monthly program will not qualify as de minimis. The employer can generally deduct the cost as an ordinary and necessary business expense under IRC Section 162. California does not always follow the federal exclusions. The Blys tax guide has the detail; confirm it with your tax advisor.
